Shiver Station was originally awarded an EDGE NEED grant on 5/01/2020. An additional grant award of $5,000 was provided due to the effects of a subsequent Shelby County Health Department health directive placed on restaurants, bars and local grocery stores.

PJP, Inc. DBA Shiver Station is a restaurant serving Shaved Ice and Hot Dogs located at 1258 Southland Mall in Memphis that has seen at least a 25% drop in revenue as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The applicant was forced to close when Southland Mall closed making delivery and take-out impossible. Spring revenue is critical to making rent and tax payments. Five part-time and one full-time employees have been laid off.
Stabilization and Recovery Plan:
• Seeking rent concessions (primary obligation) and received SBA PPP
• Planning new marketing strategy to stay connected with customers
• Considering broadening product offerings when open again
NEED Grant funds will be used for rent, insurance, taxes and other fixed costs totaling $1,967 per month, food and other reopening supplies, and possibly equipment to broaden product offering.

An additional $1,000 in funding was approved on October 7, 2020.
